Periodontitis? Forewarned is Forearmed

Everybody wants to have a beautiful white smile and healthy strong teeth. And to keep it as long as possible. But healthy teeth are impossible without healthy gums. Therefore I propose to talk about periodontitis.

What is it? How does it occur? What is prevention? How to deal with it?

According to statistics, in Russia, the percentage of oral diseases is significantly higher than in Europe and the USA. And all this due to lack of oral hygiene. Many still believe that the earlier people did not clean his teeth, and they remained healthy until the end of life. This is one of the most common myths.

During all periods of human history, healthy teeth and gums are directly associated with oral hygiene. It was she who in ancient times was the main means of prevention of dental diseases. Reference to the care of teeth and the appropriate means occurs already in the written records of ancient Egypt, where they cook the world's first dental powders.

Periodontitis is a major cause of tooth loss in people over 35 years. 90% of adults suffer from gum disease. And since the early stages is not accompanied by pain, many people do not seek help to the dentist.

Bleeding gums, tartar, loosening of teeth, bad breath, sore gums, the allocation between the teeth. At least one of these symptoms are familiar to every one of us is not hearsay. And around again to blame for the microbes that form dental plaque. And if you have at least one of the above symptoms, you should consult your dentist.

The initial stage of gum disease is gingivitis - inflammation and bleeding gums. At this stage of the disease is reversible. But if gingivitis is left untreated, the inflammatory process extends deep into the gums and the disease goes into the next stage - Periodontitis. He is accompanied destruction of ligaments holding the tooth, and destruction of the jaw bone in which the tooth is attached. Teeth begin to loosen and may even fall out.

In order to prevent gum disease and improve their condition, must be carefully prevention:

Brush thoroughly twice a day, use a toothbrush of medium hardness, and it should be in good condition. Brush should be changed 2-3 times per year. Irrigator can also be purchased with it, you can massage the gums and teeth are more thoroughly cleaned from soft plaque. Clean the space between teeth flossing after each meal. It is advisable to apply Mouthwashes during the day when you can not brush your teeth after eating. Balance the food. The ration must be included solid foods. Take vitamin complexes, 2 times a year (fall, spring). Regularly visit the dentist for examination. We recommend professional cleaning of teeth 2 times a year. It is advisable to stop smoking. It adversely affects the gums and causes them to fill.

There are many folk remedies that will help preserve the health of the gums:

After eating you can rinse your mouth with herbal infusions of calendula, chamomile, sage, and oak bark. You can use green tea. Excellent tool is hydrogen peroxide. Once a week, good to brush your teeth with a soft brush, after dipping it in 3% hydrogen peroxide, or rinse your mouth (1-2 tablespoons in half a glass of water). Gum massage is irreplaceable in the prevention of periodontitis. You can massage the gums with a mixture of salt and honey or olive oil and lemon Saka. Or at least rinse your mouth with extra virgin olive oil.
